The debut CD by young flautist Philippe Barnes.
At 24 Philippe is an experienced performer, composer and session artist.
He has been making a name for himself as a session player for some time now, with his ability to mould the tone of the silver boehm system flute to sound like an Irish flute or an Indian Bansuri.
It was this ability that earned him a place in virtuoso bassist Franc O’Shea’s jazz-fusion band "Alkimia" and led to him recording alongside member’s of Paco De Lucia’s band including the flamenco flautist Jorge Pardo.
He began studying classical flute at 11, taught by Liz Goodwin, the founder of Flutewise. He has played in masterclass for Jeanne Galway, Trevor Wye, Christopher Hyde-Smith and Mike Mower among others.
He also studied Irish flute with Sarah Allen and Brian Finnegan, composition with Param Vir, and improvisation with Gareth Lockrane, Lawrence Jones, and Tom Phelan.
Recording credits include BBC Radio 4, Radio 2, Discovery Channel, ITV, as well as local TV/Radio, Album sessions for Irish, Flamenco, Jazz, Funk, Classical and other artists.
Philippe’s current projects include the celtic jazz-funk band "All Jigged Out" who were finalists in the Radio 2 Young Folk Awards; Modern Flamenco group "Candela" with dates from Genoa to Tanzania, and recording a follow up to his critically acclaimed debut album "An Feochan" LongMan031CD
